Beaufort County court changes lives

2013-12-09

BLUFFTON -- The Island Packet and Beaufort Gazette profiled our Adult and Juvenile Multi-Disciplinary Courts. These specialized, problem-solving courts treat the underlying reasons people have turned to a life of crime, including substance abuse and mental health issues. The goal is for strict accountability through weekly court visits and comprehensive treatment to restore them back into being productive members of society.

So far, we have an 11 percent recidivism rate for adults and a 15 percent recidivism rate for juveniles thanks to the hard work and dedication of our Prevention Services team, Beaufort County Department of Drug & Alcohol Abuse, Judge Erin Dean and Family Court Judge Pete Fuge.
