BEAUFORT, S.C. (Nov. 12, 2025) — The 14th Circuit Solicitor’s Office has obtained a fourth conviction in the shooting death of a popular Bluffton High School football player.
Shayniah Void, a 23-year-old Orangeburg resident, formerly of Bluffton, pleaded guilty to all three charges against her Wednesday and was sentenced to 17 years in prison. She received one year for third-degree assault and battery by mob, and 25 years each for second-degree and first-degree mob violence, suspended to 17 years and to be followed by five years’ probation. The sentences will run concurrently.
Void, along with her brother Jayden Lamont Void, were originally charged by the Bluffton Police Department with accessory after the fact of murder, which carries a maximum of 15 years. The Solicitor’s Office directly indicted them for the mob-violence charges, which carry more severe penalties.

Void is the fourth person convicted in connection with the March 2021 killing of D’won “D.J.” Fields Jr., an 18-year-old standout football player at Bluffton High who was just weeks from graduation.
Void and her co-defendants are being prosecuted by 14th Circuit Solicitor Duffie Stone and Chief Deputy Solicitor Sean Thornton.
Two of Fields’ Bluffton High School teammates were riding in his vehicle and survived the attack. However, both were injured — one of them shot twice in the face.
In a case of mistaken identity, the victims were targeted by assailants in another vehicle who believed them to be their “opps” or “opposition” – rivals in a violent, on-going dispute. Void happened to see Fields and his party at a Bluffton-area fast-food restaurant, mistaking one of them for the assailants’ target. Void then communicated with the assailants by cellphone, giving them the victims’ location and describing Fields’ vehicle as he drove away from the restaurant.
Void’s brother, Jayden Lamont Void, was riding with his sister and also communicated with the assailants before the murder. He accepted responsibility early and testified on behalf of the State in the trial of a co-defendant. He pleaded guilty in June and was sentenced to 12 years in prison.
In October 2023, Ty’leic Dae Jhon Chaneyfield, now 23, was convicted of murder, two counts of attempted murder, three counts of assault and battery by mob, and possession of a weapon during commission of a violent crime. He was sentenced to life in prison.
Jimmie Lewis Green of Hardeeville, now 24, pleaded guilty to the same charges in May 2023. He was sentenced to 40 years in prison.
A fifth defendant, Messiah Kasheef Anderson of Ridgeland, faces the same charges as Green and Chaneyfield. He was a juvenile at the time of the attack but has been waived up to adult court by a family court judge after a successful petition from the Solicitor’s Office. Anderson is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.

Shayniah Void.
