Beaufort man sentenced to 20 years in burglary case

BEAUFORT, SC (April 20, 2016) – It took a jury 16 minutes Wednesday to find a 34-year-old Beaufort man guilty of burglarizing a Shell Point home in 2015.

Adrian Laron Jenkins was sentenced to serve 20 years in prison. He was found guilty of first-degree burglary following a two-day trial at the Beaufort County Courthouse.

“Adrian Jenkins is the definition of a career criminal and deserved to be removed from society,” said Assistant Solicitor and Career Criminal Team prosecutor Hunter Swanson. “He is well-known to law enforcement throughout Beaufort County. He has been a chronic problem and menace in the community for a long time. That was put to an end today.”

Jenkins has two prior burglary convictions, along with a motor vehicle break-in, strong armed robberies, shoplifting, and a drug conspiracy conviction.

A surveillance camera captured Jenkins entering a Peacock Run home on the morning of Sept. 17, 2015. Dozens of video games, a game system and a flat screen TV were stolen.

Circuit Court Judge Carmen Mullen handed down the sentence.
