COLUMBIA, SC (Feb. 4, 2022) – The S.C. Court of Appeals held a special term of court Thursday for an oath ceremony for three new attorneys with the 14th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
The oath commemorates the office’s newest prosecutors.
“Taking the oath recognizes the education that somebody has achieved and their character that gives them the ability to walk into a courtroom and prosecute a criminal case,” said Solicitor Duffie Stone. “That’s a big deal.”
The Honorable H. Bruce Williams, chief judge of the state’s Court of Appeals, administered the oath to Makeia R. Jonese, Valerie A. Letko and Jeffrey D. Williams.
The ceremony included an address on prosecution by the Honorable D. Garrison Hill. Appeals Judge John D. Geathers witnessed the ceremony.
Jonese, Letko and Williams are a part of the office’s community prosecution team and are based at the circuit’s Okatie headquarters.
