Second Waffle House shooter convicted of murder

A still image from surveillance video shows Charles Breland shoot Lamontre Greene moments after Jordin Glover did the same. Both defendants were convicted of murder in Colleton County General Sessions Court.

WALTERBORO, S.C. (Nov. 21, 2025) – A second defendant has been convicted and sentenced to prison for his role in a deadly shooting inside a Walterboro Waffle House.

Charles Maurice Harrison Breland, 21, of Ann Court was found guilty Thursday in Colleton County General Sessions Court of murder. He was sentenced to 42 years in prison.

Breland is the second person to be convicted in connection to the Feb. 18, 2023, shooting and killing of Lamontre Green at the Waffle House restaurant on Bells Highway in Walterboro.

Breland’s co-defendant, Jordin Quoleaha Glover, 22, of Francis Street was found guilty in April following a jury trial. She was sentenced to 30 years in prison.

Assistant Solicitor Tameaka Legette of the 14th Circuit Solicitor’s Office prosecuted both defendants. She was assisted in both cases by Investigator Denise Pinckney of the 14th Circuit Solicitor’s Office and Cpl. Charles Shipp of the Walterboro Police Department.

“This brazen act of violence committed in front of a dozen witnesses shows the complete disregard for life or much of anything,” Legette said. “Justice has been served in these convictions and Colleton County is a safer place with these two behind bars.”

Breland and Green entered the Waffle House and approached a table where Breland’s girlfriend, Glover, and others were seated. After a short disagreement, Green turned to walk away and was shot at least six times. Officers arrived to find Green dying on the floor of the restaurant.

Legette is a member of the Solicitor’s Office Career Criminal Unit, which prosecutes the circuit’s most violent and habitual offenders. That team has earned convictions against 533 of the 586 defendants it has prosecuted since its inception in late 2009.
