Members of the 14th Circuit Solicitor’s Office joined a group of 30 volunteers Saturday in the Levy area of Jasper County as part of an effort to Keep Jasper County Beautiful.
The clean-up effort netted more than 6,200 pounds of litter from just 6 miles of roadway and drainage ditches along Bellinger Hill Road. Volunteers collected two tires, a septic tank lid, two car bumpers, a sofa, refrigerators, two deer carcasses and many, many glass and plastic bottles. More than 315 orange Adopt-A-Highway bags were hauled to the recycling center.
The Blue Heron Nature Center/Keep Jasper County Beautiful organized the event leading up to the Great American Cleanup, a nationwide litter drive from March 20 – June 20.
