BEAUFORT, SC (Aug. 25, 2016) — The co-defendant and once boyfriend of Jasmine Femia was sentenced today to 38 years in prison.
Anthony Ellison pleaded guilty on Aug. 9, 2016 to conspiracy and murder in the death of Nicholas Degros, the father of one of Femia’s two children.
Femia convinced Ellison to be the triggerman with the promise of a future life together. Degros was shot and killed outside his Beaufort home on Jan. 9, 2015, several days before Femia and Degros were due in Family Court for a child custody hearing.
Ellison testified earlier this week against Femia. Femia showed Ellison where Degros lived, bought the murder weapon and rented the car used the day of the killing.
Circuit Court Judge Michael Nettles sentenced Femia on Wednesday, Aug. 24, to 45 years in prison.
Nettles also handed down Ellison’s 38-year sentence.
